“Dedicated to helping children in need at Christmastime.”
Santa On The West End (SOTWE) began as a small grassroots operation out of a nearby local park and has grown to include Santa In The Basin (SITB).
Today, SOTWE celebrates over 10 years and has grown, largely due to local sponsors, donors and volunteers. In turn, Santa In The Basin, a project that expanded to include her hometown of Tularosa, New Mexico is now in it’s 4th year of serving the community during Christmastime.
Focusing on the children and their families who face difficulties with the holiday season and specifically with Christmastime, has been a priority from the beginning. The obligation to give a dash of joy to many struggling parents and families during a stressful time was too strong to ignore.
So SOTWE and SITB created a merry Christmas party for ALL families to enjoy. With gifts for families who may not be able to provide them to their children, extra clothing to stay warm and a winter festival of fun for kids to enjoy while they meet and take pictures with Santa!
Mary Borunda began Santa On The West End (SOTWE) in 2012.
The idea was sparked by a childhood memory of visiting Santa in her small town of Tularosa, NM and growing up in a challenging environment. Mary felt a strong desire to assist less fortunate children facing similar circumstances in her current community of Sierra Vista, Arizona. From her childhood memory of visiting Santa, the plans began to unfold.
In 2021, Mary was able to bring her dream full circle by founding Santa In The Basin (SITB) in the very town where she grew up. The true inspiration for the original Santa On The West End!
